How I Got Monetized on Youtube in 30 Days

How to Get Monetized on Youtube

Small Youtubers struggle with the 1,000 subscribers & 4,000 watch time requirement for the Youtube partner program more than anything else.

As a 16 year Youtube veteran, I've gotten 4 different Youtube channels into the Youtube Partner program during my Youtube career.

Just recently, I took an old, neglected channel and got it monetized in around 30 days.

Accepted into Youtube Partner Program

I reached over 3k watch hours and got accepted into the Youtube Partner Program. It only took 24 hours to approve my account for paid memberships and Superchats.

My Youtube channel should reach 4k watch hours within days so I can finally run paid ads on my content.

I will share some of the tips and tricks I used to get accepted so quickly.

Monetized on Youtube in Just 30 Days

Find a Hungry Audience

The biggest mistake new Youtubers make is that they focus on a topic instead of a specific audience or niche.

For example, I upload different types of videos to my main Youtube channel because I like many different topics and hobbies. Even though my main Youtube channel is montized with over 2k subscribers, I don't get as many views as I do on my laser focused niche finance niche.

My niche financial channel targets a very specific audience that's passionate and interested in learning more about the topic.

So how do I find hungry audiences? I do market research on Reddit, Youtube, and X.

Subreddits are a goldmine for finding hungry audiences. Make sure each subreddit has at least a couple thousands followers and plenty of fresh topics to read about.

In fact, you can do quite well simplying building Youtube channels on Subreddit topics.

For example, I'm a member of the Passport Bros subreddit so I could create a Youtube channel about being a Passport Bro and share my personal experiences.

Starting a “Passport Bro” channel will grow quicker than a generic travel channel.

Action Step: Focus on answering questions and solving problems for 1 audience if you want to grow your channel quickly.

Make Longer Videos

Some Youtube channels do quite well with shorter videos but I found it's easier to get monetized on Youtube if you post longer videos.

Videos between 10 to 5 minutes helped me increase my watch time a lot.

Upload Videos Regularly

With my recently monetized channel, I uploaded at least 1 new video every business day between 6AM and 9AM EST.

Being consistent will help get monetized faster because your audience will watch your content regularly and increase your watch time.

I recommend uploading at least 5 videos per week to get monetized on Youtube quickly.

The more videos you upload, the more views and watch time you will accumulate. Don't worry about making the best video in the world.

Find a common problem or pain point your audience is dealing with then provide helpful content and information in your videos.

You don't have to just educate your audience. You can entertain them as well. Most successful Youtube channels are either for education or entertainment. Listen to your audience's feedback and create the type of content they want to watch.

Ask People to Subscribe

Don't forget to ask people to subscribe in your videos. I often forget to do this but it's important to ask for the subscription near the beginning and at the end of your videos.

Engage with Your Community

I respond to most comments and post community posts a few times per week. Answering comments builds a community and provides insights into new Youtube video topic ideas.

As for posts, I share interesting news and research with my audience to educate and entertain them.
