10 Ways to Find End Users to Buy Your Domain Name
Flipping domains to end users is the #1 recommended domain sales strategy to make the most money. An end user buys your domain to launch a new business or complement an existing one. That’s where the big money is. End users have a vision to turn your domain name into a brand or money making venture.
Here’s 10 simple ways to find end users.
1. Google
Google is the #1 way to quickly find potential end users for your domain names. I browse the Adwords listings first because those companies maintain an advertising budget and wish they had top organic Google result. This is huge! Approach them with your domain and pitch how it will help them rank better and save money on Adwords costs.
After listing each advertiser in an excel sheet, I browse page 2 through 4 of Google to find more potential end users.
Why not page 1?
Because those companies already rank in the top 10 for their keyword. They may already work with an SEO company that handles all their domain transactions. I learned this after speaking with dozens of business owners who rudely explained that they were already working with someone else. Companies on page 2 through 4 know they have a ranking problem and need a solution. These are your best targets.
2. Bing
Bing is quickly gaining ground on Google and becoming a highly visited search engine. Type in your keyword and you find dozens of potential end users to contact. Many businesses rank nowhere in Google but rank high on Bing so you discover more potential leads.
I perform the same process by contacting the Bing Advertising companies first then the organic results page 2 through 4. This tip alone increases your contact list a lot and may lead to a good potential buyer.
3. Yahoo!
Yahoo is another great search engine and I usually find 3 to 5 new end user candidates that Google and Bing failed to rank high. After browsing Google, Bing, and Yahoo, I have a list of at least 15 to 20 potential end users that spend money on advertising or need to rank high in Google. Most people only use Google to find end users so you gain an important advantage over your competitors.
4. Linkedin

Linkedin works great because you can search for people by location and keywords. Simply log into Linkedin and type similar related keywords to pull up some potential end users.
Ex. The domain you own is BostonDivorceLawyers.com
Search for related keywords like:
- Boston lawyers
- divorce lawyer boston
- boston divorce
- attorney in boston divorce
- boston attorney
Select the location on the left hand side to further sort the results. The best part about this strategy is you know the person’s name and where they work. Now, head over to Google and find their contact information. When you send your emails, personalize them with the information you found on Linkedin.
5. ZFbot

ZFbot is a handy little tool that lets you search for similar registered domains according to your keywords. Type your keyword in, select the OR tab, limit the length to 24, and hit Search. Take the list of similar domains and head over to DomainTools to use their Whois database. If someone registered a related domain to yours, then they may be interested in yours too. I’ve received plenty of offers for domains using this tool. Use different keyword combinations to pull up different results.
6. Yellow Pages
As a kid growing up, I used to flip through the Yellow pages book and see which companies had the most colorful and impressive ads. Then the internet came along and made the Yellow pages obsolete. That is until Yellow Pages moved online!
Head over to YellowPages.com and type in your domain keywords. While the results tend to be repititive, I sometimes find new end users quickly.
Here’s the deal:
Many business owners do not understand how to market or advertise on the internet. They grew up using the YellowPages so that’s how they advertise their business. Yellow Pages hires sales reps to call local businesses and encourage them to advertise with them. The sad part is most business owners have no idea that it’s ineffective and useless.
Not only can you educate them on how online marketing is more effective, but you can sell them a bunch of online services along with your domain. These business owners need:
- a domain name
- a website
- SEO services
- Adwords consulting
- etc
Provide these services yourself or simply outsource them and pocket a nice chunk of the profit. It’s a cool way to supplement your domain income and may lead to some word of mouth marketing as well. If you sell a business owner a good domain, then he may tell his friends to buy a good domain from you too.
7. Yelp
Yelp is one of YellowPages biggest competitors and dominates the local lead generation market. You will find dozens upon dozens of local business listed here. Local companies fight over top Yelp results so they are great potential end users to market to.
Just type your keyword into the search and select the city and state. Every business has at least a phone number or website for you to contact them.
Best of all, many Yelp businesses lack a website! You provide the perfect solution to their online marketing issues with your domain name.
By using Yelp, I can quickly gather a list of 25 to 50 potential end users in a short period of time.
8. Estibot

Estibot is well known for their end user lead generation tool so I included them in the list. While I’ve never had much success with automated emailing, I can understand the time saving benefits. A paid account costs around $50 per month to use their end user tool. You can either send emails directly through Estibot or download them into an excel spreadsheet.
Many of the results are completely irrelevant but I do uncover an amazing potential end user from time to time.
9. DomainTools

DomainTools is the #1 tool for domainers, period. It’s great for discovering contact information and finding out who owns a domain name. Signup for an account to see the complete WhoIs Results.
The only problem with DomainTools is they list technical and administrative contacts, not the CEO or VP of marketing. This works well enough for small businesses but you need to do a bit more work if the company is larger. Companies hire technical staff to deal with domain acquisitions and website development. They list themselves as the main contact but unfortunately have zero authority in negotiations.
Use their email and ask who is in charge of marketing or simply visit the website to find someone with more authority.
10. Jigsaw

Jigsaw is a huge database of companies listings organized by industry, sales revenue, employees and other stats. It’s a goldmine for finding businesses with a BIG budget or getting the contact details of the right person.
I used Jigsaw to determine the email address of a CEO who hired a third party to contact me. I knew his name but had no idea what his email address was.
Once I went to Jigsaw, I noticed his company used the following email format:
FLastName@Company.com
All I did was email him and he was happy to speak with me. I’m surprised more domainers don’t use this tool because you also can sort companies by revenue.
Want to target financial companies in Los Angeles, CA that make between $1 million to $10 million in revenue annually? It’s really simple to do. Just select your search criteria and you’re done.
Conclusion
Use these 10 ways to find end users and you may soon have a list of 100 or more potential buyers. This is the way to reach a nice, profitable sale.
The majority of these sites are free so you also save money in the process.
